A fugitive’s invitation 🪶🦚✉️

She could feel the faint pulse of his aura on the colourful peacock feathers left in her groove. He had definitely been here, and he left these behind. He snuck in, but why? And why would he leave such an obvious sign of his entry? A fugitive, leaving clues of his illegal moves? It didn’t make any sense. Unless it was an invitation of sorts. She would have to ask him in private then.
- Any sign of him? - asked the paladin of the realm expectantly?
She lifted her gaze to the tall man of the law and twisted the feathers barbs with a resigned sigh.
- No. I can find no trace of him in here.
- Disappointing, but expected. We’ll keep looking. Keep me informed, in case you find anything.
- Will do.
Her gaze followed his shape exiting the groove, before she twisted the feathers again, plucking a barb with her delicate fingers. This will do nicely for a tracking spell to meet with this sly fugitive.

Everything falls into place

She was actually born in the capital. She knew the bustle of the city intimately. Its liveliness, the hidden gems, the rhythm of each day. But she was never comfortable there. Existence felt excessive, the beauty of life felt bottled up, and the rhythms that connected it all felt forced. So she left it all behind, and settled at the edge of a tiny village. She had to work hard to get by, especially in the beginning. The first winter found her without enough wood to burn. It was her neighbours that helped her out, and when she felt shame for having nothing to offer in return, they simply replied: “everything will fall into place in the end”. The first spring found her without grain to make flour, so her neighbours offered her a seat at their table and said “everything will fall into place in the end”. That summer the storms destroyed her roof. It was her neighbours who helped fix it and said “everything will fall into place in the end”. And when autumn came, as she gathered the last of her herbs, the neighbours son fell ill. She sat by the boys bed and changed the fermentation. She mixed the herbs she so painstakingly collected throughout the year, and bit by bit, helped him drink. She made him a meal he could swallow, gave him more sheets to keep him warm, and minute by minute, she nursed him back to health. And when the boy was well enough to eat a full meal again, his parents came to her with gratitude, and asked what they could offer her in return? She smiled softly and said: “everything falls into place in the end”.

 Where the jilflowers grow

The jilflower can grow almost anywhere, but it best likes the openness of sunlit meadows. Some consider it a weed. Most people do actually. But they always made her smile, and think of the first jilflower she ever gave her. It was early spring, much too early for most of the flowers to bloom. But she found her this young little blossom, almost as rosy as the blush on her cheeks as she handed it to her. It was the day before she set out on her journey, almost seven moons ago now. And as the seasons changed and she kept marching into winter to finish the task she was given, jilflowers on the side of the road continued to make her smile whatever strange land she was in. She brought her a tribal necklace from the South, and glittering earrings from the Orient. And on the day she finished her task she thought about her home with a contended smile. On the side of the road, as if it had silently and patiently waited for her to notice it, was a rosy jillflower smiling back at her. It was finally time to return home to her.

As you might know our little shop is Hungarian, so we like to sneak in some of our local culture and traditions from time to time. In honour of Valentines spirit, I’d like to show you a card from the so called Hungarian deck of cards. The Hungarian deck contains only 32 cards divided into 4 suits of leaves, bells, acorns and hearts, while the cards are numbered with roman numerals from VII to X and an additional four cards following in line: under and upper knaves, kings, and aces. The ace of hearts portrays spring and quite fittingly, it’s the favourite of our tiefling trickster.

The Druids last stand
The undead have been moving into the forest day by day, inch by inch. At first she thought they would exhaust themselves and leave, perhaps falter, break and die, but they were relentless and many. And by the time her circle realised the danger in their presence, it was too late. They kept coming. They didn’t sleep, they never stopped, and didn’t tire. So her circle retreated. Then fell back again to their groove. Now the last of them gathered, and as she stood at the entrance to their sacred land, she knew this is where they would make their last stand. And hopefully a new groove will sprout from her ashes, even if she should fall.
